On February 23, 2023, a briefing session on economic cooperation between Pyeongtaek City and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held successfully at Pyeongtaek City Hall.

Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, Pyeongtaek Chamber of Commerce Chairman Lee Bo-Young, Songtan Industrial Complex Management Corporation Chairman Yoo Ki-Deok, and other officials attended the briefing session. The session was also attended by the Republic of Uzbekistan Embassy's Deputy Ambassador Zokir Saidov and Korea International University in Fergana’s (KIUF) rector Joon-Ho Park. In this briefing session, discussions were actively taken place on the establishment of facilitating worker supply from Uzbekistan to Korean companies based in Pyeongtaek and the dispatching of a Pyeongtaek economic delegation to Sirdaryo Province, Uzbekistan.

Kim Chang-Keon, Chairman of the Eurasia Networks, said that Uzbekistan's the most preferred country in terms of sending work force is Korea. And KIUF’s specialized degree that offers customized vocational education, as well as an intensive Korean language program to obtain at least TOPIK level 3 certificate, will facilitate the supply of Uzbek workforce to Korean companies in Pyeongtaek.

In addition, Pyeongtaek City and Uzbekistan's Sirdaryo Province will further expand regional cooperation with the signing of a friendly cooperation city in 2022. Sirdaryo Province will officially invite Pyeongtaek City at the end of April when the events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the province's establishment will take place. Meanwhile, in time for that date, the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association will dispatch an economic delegation of Pyeongtaek-based companies.
