Pyeongtaek City Delegation from Gyeonggi Province Concludes Official V…

A delegation from Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, visited the Republic of Uzbekistan from March 10 to March 15 for a six-day, four-night official trip. 

During the visit, Chairman Kim Chang Keon and staff members 

supported the delegation’s local activities and facilitated various programs aimed at strengthening economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.


The delegation visited Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE), where they held a meeting with university officials to explore opportunities 

for cooperation in education and academic exchange.


At the meeting, Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon was awarded honorary doctoral and honorary professorship titles by 

TSUE in recognition of his contributions to expanding exchanges and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.


The delegation also visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to discuss ways to promote economic cooperation between businesses of the two countries. 

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Pyeongtaek Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan 

to promote business exchanges and investment cooperation.


Meanwhile, Pyeongtaek City also made efforts to strengthen ties with the Koryo-saram (ethnic Korean) community in Uzbekistan.

The delegation met with Viktor Park, Chairman of the Association of Koreans in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, Viktor Park was appointed Honorary Ambassador of Pyeongtaek City.


Mayor Jeong Jang-seon was also awarded a Friendship and Cooperation Medal by the Association of Koreans in Uzbekistan in recognition of 

his contributions to promoting friendly relations with the Koryo-saram community.


Chairman Kim Chang Keon, serving as Policy Advisor to Pyeongtaek City, planned and supported this official visit to Uzbekistan. 

He stated, “Korea and Uzbekistan have great potential for cooperation in many areas, including economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges.”


He added, “We will continue to serve as a bridge between the two countries and actively support the development of bilateral cooperation, including expanding business partnerships

and investments, strengthening government-level relations, and promoting sister-city partnerships.”
